Hotel Intercontinental
A historic icon brought back to life
InterContinental Hotel Pool Fountain
The Chicago Fountain team was tasked with a complete rebuild and restoration of the 1929 terra cotta Neptune fountain at the Intercontinental Hotel pool. Sitting idle for over 3 decades, the fountain required attention inside and out. All new piping, nozzles, and lighting were part of the scope. We worked with a sculptor to repair and rebuild areas of the terra cotta to bring this stunning fountain back to its original glory. The pool basin was finished in white and small jets were added with lighting to highlight the overall sculpture. We also found opportunities to add additional water elements, upgrading the entire fountain to be worthy of the Roman god Neptune. Behind the scenes, complete new piping, a redesign and upgrade of the equipment vault, and modern controllers keep things running beautifully, and easy to maintain.
